Private LLMHosted or on-premise

Your own private LLM. Hosted by us, or in your own environment.

A private LLM is a large language model, the AI that reads and writes, that runs where you decide and stays under your control. Your data stays inside the boundary you chose, and it is never used to train anyone else's model. MindLynx can host Albion, our open-source British model, for you in the UK and EU, or set it up inside your own environment.

01 · Why firms want one

Why UK firms want a private LLM.

Three reasons, in this order: data privacy, security and cost.

Data privacy Client files are confidential, and UK GDPR asks where personal data goes and who can reach it. In your own environment, your data does not leave. Hosted with us, it stays in the UK and EU by default. It is never used to train anyone else's model.
Security Your rules, never a model, decide what runs and where. Every connection starts read-only, and you widen it one step at a time. In your own environment, you hold the keys and the logs. Every step records who asked, which rules applied, which model ran, where it ran and what it cost.
Cost You do not pay a frontier premium on everyday work. Not every task needs the largest model: Albion comes in sizes from one that runs on a laptop up to a very large one, and you choose. Hosted with us, every step has a budget and a price.
02 · How to choose

Hosted or in your own environment: how to choose.

Hosted with us, your data stays in the UK and EU by default; in your own environment, it does not leave. Both leave a receipt for every step. The difference is who owns, runs and patches the machines.

What to compare Your environmentYour own servers or private cloud Hosted by MindLynxIn the UK and EU by default
Who owns the hardware You do, or your cloud provider under your own account. We do, through named data-centre operators. The security pack lists each one.
Who patches it Your team: operating systems, drivers and model servers. We supply updates to our software. We do.
Who holds the keys You do, in your own key store. We manage them for the service. The security pack sets out how they are held and who can use them.
Time to first use Longer. Capacity has to be in place, then installation and testing with your security team, with our engineers alongside yours. Shorter. Our activation team connects your systems, and every connection starts read-only.
Cost shape Hardware or reserved capacity paid for up front, plus your people to run it. The cost stays the same when usage falls. A subscription. Every step has a budget and a price, agreed before it runs and shown after.
Upgrade path You decide when to move to a new model or version, and you test it first. We move to newer models. Every receipt names the model that ran, so a change is never hidden.
Audit evidence Receipts are written inside your environment, into your own logs, where your auditors can read them. A receipt for every step, which your auditors can read and you can export as plain files.
When a model is retired Nothing is retired on you. Open-weight models you run stay on your servers until you replace them. The work moves to another model your rules allow. What your business has learnt stays in Cortex, which is not tied to any one model.
Your own environment is the right answer when
  • You already run GPUs or a private cloud with spare capacity.
  • The work is air-gapped or classified and cannot touch a network you do not control.
  • A regulator, a client contract or your insurer requires it.
  • Your security team must hold every key and patch every machine.
Hosting with us is the right answer when
  • You want to start on one problem without buying hardware.
  • You have no team to run model servers.
  • Your usage rises and falls through the year.
  • Processing in the UK and EU, with named operators and a receipt for every step, meets your obligations.

You can start hosted and move into your own environment later. Your knowledge, playbooks and records export as plain files.

03 · Trained on your work

Trained on what your firm knows.

A private LLM is more useful when it knows how your firm works. Two parts do that, and both stay yours.

Albion, trained in your environment Set up inside your own environment, Albion can be trained there on how your firm works. What it learns from your work belongs to you. Your data is never used to train it unless you say so, and never used to train anyone else's model. See Albion →
Cortex, your firm's memory Cortex is one memory for the whole organisation, held for your business alone. Agents read it before they act and write back what they learn. It is not tied to any one model, so when a model is replaced, what your business knows stays where it is. See Cortex →
04 · How we set it up

How we set it up with you.

Albion is in development, and we are building it with design partners now. A private deployment runs in four steps.

  1. 01 Discovery and design Our engineers design it alongside your team.
  2. 02 Set up where you chose Hosted with us, our activation team connects your systems. In your own environment, capacity comes first, then installation and testing with your security team, with our engineers alongside yours.
  3. 03 Start read-only, on one problem Every connection starts read-only. You widen what agents may do one step at a time, system by system, and you can narrow it again with one click.
  4. 04 Roll out one department at a time Departments join in turn, with a receipt for every step that your auditors can read and you can export as plain files.

What is a private LLM?

A private LLM is a large language model, the AI that reads and writes, that runs where you decide and stays under your control. Your data stays inside the boundary you chose, and it is never used to train anyone else's model. It can run on your own servers, in your own cloud account, or hosted for you by a supplier you choose.

Is a private LLM the same as private AI or a self-hosted LLM?

Mostly, yes, though they are not quite the same. A private LLM runs where you decide and stays under your control, either in your own environment or hosted for you. Self-hosted and on-premise usually mean it runs in your own environment. Private AI is the wider term: it covers any AI kept private, not only language models. Hosted by us, it is still private: your data stays in the UK and EU by default, and it is never used to train anyone else's model.

Can you host it for us in the UK and EU?

Yes. Hosted by MindLynx, your data is stored and processed in the UK and EU by default. Every place we use is described by its jurisdiction, who operates it and who holds the keys, and you can narrow it further.

Can we run it on our own servers?

Yes. Albion is open source and built to run in the cloud or entirely inside your own environment: your own servers, or your cloud provider under your own account. It takes longer to set up than hosting with us, because capacity has to be in place first.

Will our data be used to train anyone else's model?

No. Your data is never used to train anyone else's model. What Albion learns from your work belongs to you.

Is a private LLM GDPR compliant?

A private LLM does not make you compliant on its own, but it makes the hard questions answerable: where personal data goes, and who can reach it. Under UK GDPR, sending personal data to an organisation outside the UK, including letting it reach your systems remotely, can be a restricted transfer. In your own environment, your data does not leave. Hosted with us, it stays in the UK and EU by default, and every step leaves a receipt your auditors can read.

What hardware do we need?

It depends on the size of model. Albion comes in sizes from one that runs on a laptop up to a very large one, and you choose which. In your own environment, the hardware or reserved capacity must be in place before installation. If you do not want to buy hardware, start hosted with us.

What does a private LLM cost?

Hosted with us, it is a subscription: every step has a budget and a price, agreed before it runs and shown after. In your own environment, you pay for hardware or reserved capacity up front, plus your people to run it, and the cost stays the same when usage falls. For a price for your work, talk to us.

Who maintains it after go-live?

Hosted with us, we do. We patch it and move to newer models, and every receipt names the model that ran. In your own environment, your team patches the operating systems, drivers and model servers, we supply updates to our software, and you decide when to move to a new model.
